RP Post: An Ice Cream Treat
The garden work was all done, and Cassidy’s hands were clean again, even though there was still a little dirt under her fingernails. The sun had been so hot all day, stretching across the sky like melted butter, and now everything felt slow and soft. Momma said they deserved a treat, so they walked to Scoops, the ice cream parlor down the street.
Inside, the air was cold and sweet, and Cassidy had to stand on a creaky old metal stool just to see the flavors behind the glass. There were so many. More than she ever imagined. Colors swirled and sparkled and some even had whole cookies stuffed right inside. Her eyes went wide. Her eyelids felt heavy.
Momma smiled and said the cold air always made people feel sleepy after being out in the sun. Like a magic spell. Cassidy wrinkled her nose at that. She wasn’t too sleepy. Not enough for a nap. Not when there was chocolate ice cream to eat.
She pointed to the swirliest one and asked, very politely, if she could have that one please.
Because magic or not, she was pretty sure chocolate always came first.
