RP Post: Raindrops and Rainbows

The rain had been falling all morning—soft at first, then heavier, like the sky had a lot it needed to get out. But Cassidy didn’t mind. She had her umbrella, bright and wide, held steady above her head like a little roof made just for her.

Puddles were everywhere. Shiny, wiggly mirrors in the street. She liked the ones that splashed when her boots landed just right, even more when a car went rushing by and sent water flying like a surprise fountain. She giggled every time, even when a little water got on her knees.

Everything smelled like earth and green things. The kind of smell that meant spring was paying attention.

Cassidy tilted her head back and looked up, trying to find the part of the sky where the rain might be getting tired. She had a feeling, that good kind of feeling, that a rainbow might be waiting on the other side.
